Organic Lavender
This Organic Lavender by Nature's Reserve is a locally sorced, beautiful species of Lavender. Lavender is native to Europe and is often used for invitaiton of the spirits. The name may be derived from the Latin lavare (to wash) or livendula (meaning bluish). In ancient times lavender was an important herb used in mummification. There is a legend that the clothing of baby Jesus was laid upon a lavender bush and aquired the fragrance of lavender. Some Christians still regard the scent of lavender as a safeguard against evil. Burning lavender is best done on charcoal tablets.
Burning bundles of dried herbs - sometimes called smudge sticks - has been a part of many spiritual traditions dating back millennia and connects all traditional cultures, from the Native Americans to the Druids, from the Zulus to the Maoris, from Aboriginals to the Mayans, from the Chinese to the Balinese, all of which have age-old forms of cleansing and blessing rituals.
Ways to use a smudge stick:
Light the smudge stick walk in a large circle, stopping at East, South, West and North to create a sacred space within the circle.
Light the bundle and walk through the rooms of a home or other building to cleanse, protect or permeate the space with positive energy.
Light the bundle and waft the smoke over your body or someone else's for a spiritual cleanse. Do this to permeate them with positive energy or blessings.
Wave the smoke over objects that you wish to bless.
